MEXICO Mexico is a country located in North America; it neighbors the United States to the South and shares a border that spans from California to Texas. Mexico is known for its diverse geography and climate. While parts of Mexico are home to snow covered mountains, the country is also known for its beautiful beaches and lush rainforests. The history of Mexico begins in Mesoamerica with the development of several civilizations known for their advanced knowledge and societies. The Olmecs, Aztecs and Zapotecs are just some of the civilizations native to the area we know as Mexico. After the Spanish exploration of the Americas, Mexico was under Spanish rule until they declared independence in the 19th century. Since their independence from Spain, Mexico has had conflicts that took place within their borders as well as struggles with other countries wishing to interfere with their land, economy, and government. © Copyright NewPath Learning.
