ANCIENT CHINA The history of Ancient China spans thousands of years and a number of different dynasties. Certain Chinese dynasties lasted hundreds of years, while others were overthrown and replaced quickly by new leaders. Despite this, much of Chinese culture and religion was steadfast. The Yangtze and Yellow rivers were central to the people of China. They provided water for drinking and irrigation as well as a way to travel throughout China. For this reason, many of the people of China earned their living as farmers. Religion played a big part of daily life in Ancient China. While many religious ideas were focused on individual peace and social relationships, some influenced political and governmental structure. The Ancient Chinese are well known for their many inventions. Some, such as gunpowder and kites, were used during wars, while other such as silk and bronze, were used in everyday life.
