WORLD WAR II What do you know about World War II? In the mid 1900’s, Hitler and the Nazi party in Germany were trying to gain control of many European nations. They used military force and Hitler’s leadership to gain support of the German people, and succeeded in taking power from other countries. Some nations felt that Hitler and the Nazi’s were gaining too much power and were attacking too many nations. In 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany. This was the beginning of World War II. World War II was fought between the Allies and the Axis Powers. The United States joined the war after they were attacked by the Japanese in 1941. The war ended in 1945, and a number of meetings were held to decide the fate of Germany. It was agreed that Germany’s weapons would be taken away and Germany would be divided into four zones.
