URBANIZATION What is Urbanization? When the population of a city grows quickly, it is because a large number of people move to a city in a short amount of time. This is called urbanization. One example of urbanization is the increase of population in cities after the Industrial Revolution. Immigrants are one cause of urbanization. When people move to another country, it is usually to find a better way of life. People moved to cities to find work and cheaper housing. They cannot usually find this in the country. Industrialization is also a cause of urbanization. Over the past 200 years, the percent of people that live in cities has grown.
