CLASS SYSTEMS What is a Class System? Throughout history, groups of people have been divided into many different categories. These categories are called classes. People create the categories. Race, gender, money, and power are all ways that people are sorted into different classes. Many class systems are created by economic status. The amount of money a person makes can determine what class they fit into. People in the upper class make more money than the people in the middle class, and the people in the middle class make more money than the people in the lower class. Sometime there is conflict between classes. This is usually because the people in the lower classes do not always have the opportunities that the people in the upper classes do. Although classes are easier to see in some places, almost every group of people has some sort of class system. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved.
