MULTIPLICATION OF TWO DIGITS BY TWO DIGITS What Is Multiplication? • Multiplication is a short way of adding or counting. • Multiplication is a faster way of adding by using strategies to remember what different groups of each number equal. • By multiplying numbers together, you are adding a series of one number to itself. • The answer to a multiplication problem is called a product. How to Multiply 1. First, multiply the ones in the 2nd row by the ones and tens in the 1st row. Regroup and add the regrouped number. Put the sum in the ones and tens column 2. Next, use a zero as a place holder. 3. Next, multiply the tens in the 2nd row by the ones and tens in 1st row. Add the regrouped number and put the sum in the tens and hundreds columns. 4.
