FINDING THE MEAN (AVERAGE) A mean of a group of numbers is the average of those numbers. Here is an example. David has taken three Math tests so far this year. He received a 92% on his first test, a 90% on his second test, and an 85% on his third test. Let’s find the average or mean of David’s 3 test scores. Here is what you need to do. First, add the 3 tests scores together. 92 90 + 85 267 Next, count the number of tests scores there are. There are 3 test scores. Now, divide the total 267 by 3. 89 3 267 -24 27 -27 0 Now you have a solution The mean of David’s test scores = 89%. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved.
