ROUNDING NUMBERS What Is Rounding? To express a number to the nearest given place. Rounding means reducing the digits in a number while trying to keep its value similar. How to Round: The number in the given place is increased by one if the digit to its right is 5 or greater. The number in the given place remains the same if the digit to its right is less than 5. The digits to the right of the given place become zeros. Digits to the left remain the same. Example: 73 rounded to the nearest ten is 70, because 73 is closer to 70 than to 80. © Copyright NewPath Learning. All Rights Reserved.
