The process of measuring There are two systems of measurement for length that can be used. o U.S. Customary System, or English System, is our standard for measuring length. Inches, Feet, and Yards are used in the English System. o Metric System is the system of measurement based on the meter. Millimeter, Centimeter, and Kilometer are used in the Metric System. How to Measure Use a ruler to measure in inches, feet, yards, meters, centimeters and millimeters. Determine which measurement system to use to measure the length of an object.
