TEXT FEATURE MEANING What is Text Feature Meaning? Headlines The title of an article is called a headline. A headline usually tells the main idea of what the article is about. Headlines often grab your attention and make you want to read the article. Example: If there was an article written about a local fireman who saved a woman from a burning building, the headline of the article could read: “Local Fireman Rescues Woman from Burning House” Captions A caption is a short description of a picture in a newspaper. Example: If there was an article written about the circus that was coming to town, there could be a picture of circus clowns with a caption that reads: “These guys will be clowning around in your town this July” Graphics A graphic is a picture, such as a map, photograph, or graph that can be included in an article to show information related to the article.
