PLURAL NOUNS What are Plurals? Plurals are the words that change a noun to mean more than one. You add s to most nouns to make them name more than one. Example: one tree, many trees You add es to some nouns to make them name more than one. Singular nouns that end in s, x, ch, sh must have es added to change to plural. Examples: kiss - kisses, ax - axes, ranch - ranches, wish - wishes Some nouns change to a new form to make a plural. Examples: child - children, man - men, mouse - mice, tooth - teeth. Some nouns stay the same in singular or plural. Example: one deer, many deer, If a noun ends in a consonant and y, change the y to i and add es to make a plural. Example: baby - babies Try this!
